Dr. Juan Pablo Romero, DVM

Medical Director and Owner

We are so excited to introduce Dr. Juan Pablo Romero as the new medical director and owner of Uptown Animal Hospital ABC. Dr. Romero has spent the last 20 years supporting the San Diego veterinary community working and managing animal hospitals all over the city. He can’t wait to meet all the amazing clients of Uptown ABC and we are sure everyone will love his gentle approach to healing. Due to his extensive training, he is able to offer urgent care and more advanced surgeries. He is very passionate when it comes to veterinary medicine and surgery and has completed an international internship and residency in Internal medicine.

Dr. Romero also has extensive experience in treating cancer both surgically and medically, emergencies and trauma. His residency in internal medicine gives him the knowledge in cases such as endocrine disease and diabetes. His training in surgery allows him to treat a variety of surgical issues with patients.

Some interesting facts about Dr. Romero:
He has over 300 jumps as an advanced sky diver
He has traveled to over 30 countries, including volunteering his veterinary skills in Antarctica and Africa with world vets.

Dr. Romero lives locally with his family of animals including a Giant Schnauzer, a chihuahua and Mexican hairless dog, a hairless cat 🙂 and two tortoises to name a few.

Dr. Sierra LaBrecque, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Sierra LaBrecque grew up surrounded by animals so it was no surprise that be pursued a career in veterinary medicine. In addition to working with dogs and cats, she has worked with everything from emus and ostriches to rehabilitating seals and sea lions.

She completed an Animal Science degree from Cal Poly Pomona before moving to Oregon to attend veterinary school. After graduating from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine, she completed an emergency medicine internship at a specialty clinic in San Diego.

We are so happy to have her on our team at Uptown Animal Hospital ABC. When she is not saving pets – she enjoys hiking with her two sweet dogs.

Dr. David Demner, DVM, Diplomate, ACVS

Staff Surgeon

Dr. Demner is a board-certified surgeon and is available for advanced surgeries including orthopedics, soft tissue and emergency surgeries. He is one of the most trusted veterinarians in San Diego for fracture repair and TPLO knee surgeries for cruciate (ACL) injuries. Dr. Demner’s vision is to deliver the best surgical care to patients in the comfort and familiarity of their primary care hospital… while receiving the same expert care found at specialty centers at a fraction of the price. He enjoys all aspects of surgery, but his specific interests include orthopedic, and soft tissue surgery.
